Judy Bartolotta OBITUARY

After a long battle with ALS, Judy Bartolotta aka Jude, Mom and Gigi ed away at her home on Tuesday, May 6th.

Judy graduated from Monongahela High School in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, in 1963. While in high school, she was a member of the band and head majorette. Thereafter, Judy earned a B.S. in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in 1967. An outstanding student, Judy received the Thyrsa Amos Award for women for her outstanding leadership, scholarship, fellowship and service. After graduation, while her husband was in law school, Judy worked as a visiting home health nurse in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from law school, her husband ed the Marine Corps and the two went to The Basic School (Officer Training) at Quantico, Virginia, where Judy delivered their first son, Vincent. Upon graduating from The Basic School, they moved to California with orders to Camp Pendleton. While husband Vince served a 13-month tour in Vietnam, Judy, who was now a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, ran the Pediatric Clinic at Camp Pendleton. Thereafter, she worked as a well-baby nurse practitioner in a civilian doctor’s office in Encinitas, California.

Over the years, Judy bore three more sons, Bret, Garrett and Nicolas. As years ed, the boys married, and she became Grandmother to 7 grandchildren: 4 boys and 3 girls. Judy was very active in her community as Chairperson of the Torrey Pines High School Booster Club and a member of several Bible Study and Book Club Groups. She played on a women’s soccer team, played golf and ran marathons. She will always be ed for her kindness, integrity and grace in her daily living.

Judy is survived by her husband and partner of 64 years, Vincent J. Bartolotta, Jr.; sons (and spouses): Vincent III (Rachel), Bret (Lindsay), Garrett (Carrie) and Nicolas (Jenna); grandchildren: Katie, Becca, McCoy, Cooper, Jack Vincent, Jack and Molly; mother: Mary Gross (age 99); sister: Patty Vaccaro (John) and brother: Commissioner Ernie Gross (Mary Ann).

Services will be held on June 13, 2025, at Church of the Nativity at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the ALS Association at I AM ALS, 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, P.O. Box 14135, Washington, D.C. 20049.
