Our mission statement

Groundwork San Diego – Chollas Creek (GWSD) works at the intersection of social, environmental, and climate justice, grounded in strong partnerships, to deliver education, green infrastructure, and climate safe neighborhoods in the Chollas Creek Watershed.

Our 2025 goals

For 17 years, GWSD has been educating students and families on climate science, ed their community voice, and worked to restore the Chollas Creek Watershed. In 2025, we will press forward with informing and advocating for Blue Green Infrastructure solutions in the watershed to address climate impacts.

The areas we serve

GWSD’s environmental and educational work is focused in Southeastern San Diego to include Encanto, Southcrest, Webster, Rolando Park, Oak Park, Shelltown, Lincoln Park, Chollas View, Mountain View, and Valencia Park.

Fundraising events

Giving Tuesday is a perfect day to show your commitment to climate justice through which GWSD is addressing flooding, heat, and air quality year-round in the underinvested communities of the Chollas Creek Watershed.

Calling all volunteers

Our work would not be possible without the dedication and of our volunteers. Volunteer roles range from planting community trees to tending to native plants at our 4-acre EarthLab Climate Action Educational Park, and a number of other activities. us for opportunities.
